Kentucky AD needs executive search committee for new basketball coach

29 03 2007

I was completely blown away with the news that Kentucky has hired a search firm to help them locate a new basketball coach.  Really, really UK . . . a search firm, really, really Mitch you need a search firm to help you decide who would be a good candidate or of those the right candidate?  Just to put it out there my first reaction to this is why the hell did Kentucky hire you and continue to pay you a salary if you need to outsource your important decisions to a third party? Happy trails to you Tubby Smith

22 03 2007

Well the cats out of the bag so to speak Tubby is on his way to Minnesota.  Just when I thought the previous post was my last for basketball for awhile out of no where Tubby makes a huge splash.  I think its great but not in an I hate Tubby way, I think it’s a win, for all three parties.  Kentucky gets rid of a coach the fan base has been unhappy with for quite some time.  Tubby leaves on his own terms and goes right into another position which looks to suit him much better than Kentucky did.  Minnesota should thank there lucky stars for what has seemingly fallen into there lap.  Tubby is a good coach and Minnesota is a low profile job and they will fit each other perfectly.  Minnesota gets a coach that will take them to the NCAA Tourney every year and for them that is grounds for a party.  For Kentucky that just wasn’t good enough.  Kentucky can now hopefully find a coach who is much more comfortable in the Big Blue limelight and has the ability to recruit and style of play to satisfy a much higher percentage of the Big Blue Nation.  I have to admit I’m not completely happy this makes me a little nervous at the same time with the situation that now presents the program. Jayhawks rock chalk Wildcats in second half

20 03 2007

Well last Sunday marked the end of a second sub par season of Kentucky basketball in a row.  I’ve lost all motivation to complain, voice my frustrations, or whatever you may think it is that I post.  There isn’t really much to talk about that I haven’t already hit on.  We were beat from a definite lack of talent.  The Lexington Herald Leader said it best in an article stating Kansas is what we were in the 90’s and posed the question how do we get back.  I guess we can hang our hat on the fact that the streak of winning our first round game stayed in tact with a win over Villanova.  You can credit that win to Randolph Morris and the other players finally realizing he is the key to our success.  I’ll leave you barring some crazy shake up in the program with an article on the link below.  I feel it does a fair job of truly summing up the feelings of the fans and the state of the program, enjoy.
