Well this is a little ancient but I finally got around to posting some pictures from the Kentucky Houston basketball game. I’m going to keep this brief since it certainly isn’t breaking news. I thought the Cats looked over matched against the Cougars. Once again UK played a good first half went flat in the second half and couldn’t compete. Patrick Patterson not playing a single second of the game certainly didn’t help. What did help was the return of Jodie Meeks who I thought looked great considering he hadn’t seen any action in roughly six weeks. Joe Crawford looked like he could care less about winning or the game for that matter. He really looks like he has no pride or heart sometimes out there I can’t figure this guy out he should be so much more than he is. Jared Carter looked like a once promising project that due to a wasted year and a half has taken a step back. Read the rest of this entry »

Well I figured it was time to chime in on this years Kentucky Basketball team so far. After watching 3 games and all of them losses I must admit this isn’t the season I thought I was in for, its going to be a long year folks and at no fault to the current coach. I still find it comical that in back to back thoughts the media will comment on how great Tubby Smith is and how the Kentucky fan base ran him out of town and then follow that thought up with how untalented this team is. Once again I will say in college basketball the coach is responsible for recruiting and picking the players to go after so if the team stinks the coach should be held responsible. How Teflon Tubby still manages to pull this off even after departing blows my mind we are seeing the legacy of Tubby at UK right now and no one seems willing to admit it’s not very good. Thankfully Gillispie looks to be a good recruiter even with Legion defecting b/c the Wildcats program is going to need it to become a factor again in college basketball. I would love to read Gillispie’s thoughts on this team I mean the ones he keeps to himself. I imagine he’s wondering what the hell Tubby was doing for the last three years. It’s also starting to become obvious that he’s really not a fan or interested in almost all of these players. You can sense Gillispie weathering the storm until he gets these guys out of town and gets his own recruits in. I for one don’t blame him for any of this, its bad basketball but it’s no different than what we’ve seen the last 2-3 years thus the reason Tubby isn’t here now. It’s not that neither coach can seem to get through to these players it’s that Tubby recruited these guys and they are a cumulative bunch of train wrecks. Kentucky has a long way to go but hang in there Big Blue Nation Gillispie will get them there. Below are some random thoughts that have come to mind in the three games I’ve watched so far. Who seriously thinks Sean Taylors death was a random act of violence? I was almost dumb founded that the police would release statement saying they think it was a random act of violence. The guy has a shady past with run-ins with the law, he played for “The U”, and 8 days earlier someone try to force entry threw a window into the same house Taylor ended up being shot in killed in. Oh and don’t forget the house in a suburb of Miami the place he played and lived in college. What neighborhoods swanky enough to have NFL players taking up residence in them also have issues with random acts of violence? I haven’t seen the neighborhood but I’m guessing it’s gated and unless he’s living next to Tony Montana I doubt the people had no idea who he was and just entered the home to rob someone. I had a co-worker also mention that they read someone cut the phone lines to the house before they entered can anyone confirm this I haven’t seen it printed? If so that’s another reason that someone had it out for Taylor. Don’t get me wrong I’m not loosing sight of the fact that a mother and fiancé has lost a husband and a small child a father it’s horribly tragic. I just think too many things are around this to this quickly say it was random, just my thoughts.
